Felt Tip, Sea Gallery, London, 2006.
Fletcher was a part of the 30 graphic designer’s that were invited to create a piece of artwork using simple materials, he was given an A1 piece of paper and a set of Tria markers, this photo above is what Fletcher created, ‘Felt Tip.’
The ‘aim was to create an opportunity where designers could step away from their computers and create a piece of work that required them to interact physically with their materials.’ (Fletcher, n.d.a)

V&A, 1989
While working at Pentagram, Fletcher was commissioned by Victoria & Albert Museum to create a ‘wayfinding system, rather than a logo.’ (Creative Review, 2011)
I decided to include some of Fletcher’s commissioned work so you could see the difference between this design and his freelanced designs. The images you see above and below the V&A design are some of his personal pieces. When Fletcher left Pentagram in the 90’s he decided to become a fulltime freelanced designer at his home studio in Notting Hill. (He, 2015)

Postcards: Dorset Square, The Pelham, Durley House and the Enterprise Bar & Restaurant, 1992
During Fletcher’s time at a London hotel, he produced a series of observational studies, some were portraits of guests and staff, and some were his interpretation of flowers, trees and objects around him. These graphic observations were then produced as a set of postcards for Firmdale Hotels Plc. I really enjoyed looking through these sketches because they look so simple yet the pops of colour and his hand-written annotations really add more personality to them. This inspires me because some of his best designs were just quick sketches at a hotel which someone wanted to produce further. (Fletcher, n.d.b)
